Exploring how rights advocates use information and digital technology to create positive change

"I definitely plan to develop trainings with the 10 tactics pack. The video is a powerful way for us to explain why what we do is important and the cards will help us guide others through the choices they need to make to realise their projects and goals. Eventually, we'd like to adapt these materials into Arabic."

This space has been created to publish the latest information about 10 tactics for turning information into action, a project of Tactical Technology Collective.

10 tactics for turning information into action includes stories from more than 35 rights advocates around the world who have successfully used information and digital technologies to create positive change. 10 tactics is made up of a film and a complementary set of cards. The film features 25 interviews with advocates and the cards detail info-activism case studies, tools, and advice from people about the tools and tactics they have used in different contexts.

The film includes the story of Noha Atef whose blog, TortureinEgypt.net, has led to the release of illegally detailed prisoners in Egypt. Sami Ben Gharbia, explains how activists upset the government in Tunisia when they used Google Earth and Google Maps to highlight stories of rights abuses. Dale Kongmont reveals how he uses video karaoke and YouTube in Cambodia to spread the word about the mistreatment and rights of sex workers in Asia. Dina Mehta, from India, explains what it was like to be part of an online group that worked via Twitter to get blood donors and other essential support to hospitals during the Mumbai Terror attacks.

The global launch of 10 tactics will take place at the Frontline Club, London on December 4 at 7pm. 10 tactics will be shown around the world in over 35 different countries including Argentina, Brazil, Lebanon, Indonesia, India, Thailand, Nigeria and Pakistan.
